The New Zealand government has repeatedly condemned the Myanmar military's brutal crackdown on the Rohingya population, which has been described by many as ethnic cleansing. High-level meetings between the two nations have been characterized by tension and disagreements, with little progress made towards resolving their differences. As the two nations continue to navigate their differences, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to find common ground and move towards a more constructive relationship in the future.
